Code of Ethics

How do I know my interpreter is interpreting every word the deponent has said?  How do I know that my interpreter will keep this information confidential? How do I know that my interpreter is impartial to our case?”

At Link Interpret, we take these questions very seriously.

The Minnesota Supreme Court has prepared a Code of Professional Responsibility for interpreters in the Minnesota State Court System (commonly referred to as the code of ethics.)  All interpreters are considered officers of the court, and as such, are required to abide by the code of ethics.

Certified interpreters are tested on their knowledge of the code of ethics and must pass this test to receive their certification.  The code of ethics is comprised of nine canons, including accuracy and completeness, impartiality and avoidance of the conflict of interest, and restriction of public comment.  All interpreters at Link Interpret are expected to conform to the code of ethics and no departure from the code will be tolerated.
